Did you know that you could have a birthday party at a bookstore?
I didn’t know until I had one at Books-A-Million. And it was so much fun!
We did a story-go-round. That’s where each person writes down the first line of a story and passes it to the next person to add to it. After everyone has adds a sentence, you read the story out loud. We also did a scavenger hunt with clues that took us to a bunch of different sections of the bookstore, and we even made leather book covers!
It was the best party I’ve ever had!
We had snacks that matched the titles of some books, but … the very best part was the delicious cake! We got it from M Street Baking Company and it looked fantastic, smelled amazing and tasted yummy! (The top layer was red velvet and the bottom was chocolate chip!)
I was so surprised when I saw my cake. I thought it would be a regular rectangle cake with books on it or a cake shaped like a book. But I was awestruck that it looked like a little library WITH BOOKS MADE OUT OF FONDANT!!! Brown Girl Dreaming, Walk Two Moons, The Colored Car, A Wrinkle In Time and Jada Jones were some of the books on my cake.
Miss Melondy, Miss Sabrina and Ms. Jessie really made my party a lot of fun. I decided to interview them about what it is like to work at a bookstore. I will post the interview soon.
I give my party four out of four roses!!
