Review: Army Brats Shows Importance Of Supporting Family In Tough Situations

Tom, Charlotte, and their adopted sister Rosie don’t know where to fit in. They have just moved to their first army base, where they will live while their mom learns more about being a military intelligence officer.

Army Brats, by Daphne Benedis-Grab shows, shows the journey of the three children trying to solve their problems. One is facing a bully, another is trying to fit in with new friends and the last really needs help making friends. The siblings always look out for each other, so when an embarrassing video of Tom goes viral, the three want to prove Tom is brave, even if it doesn’t seem like it from the video. They are willing to do anything to show Tom’s bravery, even if it means going into a rumored haunted house. 

This book informed me about some of the things people in the army have to do at army bases, such as finding their way through a maze filled with wires, or climbing up walls. Also, I liked the suspense the book produced while I was reading it. The way the author described the events made me nervous and scared sometimes. One thing that really stood out to me was that the mother was the one in the military, not the father. I’m glad that the author chose to use a woman in the military as a main character. 

This book is great for people who want to know what it’s like to live on an army base (from this book, I would say it sounds pretty cool!) or anyone who likes mysteries.
