Review: I Am Enough Celebrates Uniqueness In A Poetic Way

Through similes and powerful words, I Am Enough by Grace Byers is a sweet and heartfelt story encouraging young children to believe in themselves.

My Book Lover Godmother suggested I review this book. She reads it to her daughter all the time. What I liked about the story is that the author used similes to show how amazing and special everybody is. One line in the book says, “I’m not meant to be like you, you’re not meant to be like me” meaning that not everyone is the same, but that is okay, because “We all have places here on earth.”

Another thing I liked about the book is that the illustrations by Keturah A. Bobo were super cool. It looked like the pictures were drawn with a lot of different tools. I also thought it was cool that there was a lot of diversity in her artwork, from a kid in wheelchair, to black kids, to Asian kids, to a kid wearing a hijab.

This book is a good read-aloud to your young kids! I can also see it as a great addition to an elementary classroom.
