Book Lover: Santa Uses Literature To Reach Children During The Holidays

Posted by

Christmas is coming, and Santa Claus is coming to town. In his bag will be toys, games, and even books!

I am excited he’s today’s Book Lover. He is an avid reader and this holiday season he hosted a “Storytime With Santa” series and did virtual readings of some of his favorite books. In our video interview, (see below) he shows off some books he’s reading now including Brown Boy Joy, Does Santa Look Like Me?, Grandma’s Hands, The Day Santa Got Sick and so many more.

When some people see this Santa they are surprised because he has darker skin than the Santa they may be used to seeing. He calls himself the Cocoa Santa. (Ever since I was a baby I’ve always visited a Black Santa.) Santa has an explanation for why he can appear in different hues.

“Some years I may come a little bit lighter, but this year I felt the kids and their families needed to see me a little bit darker,” he said.

Santa Claus is said to be more than 1,000 years old. Cocoa Santa is 45, and his friends call him Kevin when he’s not on Santa duties.

You can follow him on Instagram and Facebook. Be sure to check out his website too.
