Earlier this year, Amanda Gorman graced the stage with her stunning poem at the presidential inauguration. Even today, her words are still tattooed in people’s hearts. Another amazing poem that will be sticking with many people is the one in her new picture book. Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem.
The poem is about how when we hear change humming, we should sing along. In other words, when we want change to happen, we must be willing to be the change. The poem encourages optimism and doing good for the world.
“Change sings where? There! Inside me. Because I am the change I want to see.” I loved this line because it reminded me of Gandhi’s famous quote, “be the change you want to see in the world.” I love how Amanda Gorman incorporated that into her own poem, it’s a quote that always inspires me.
I loved this book because the words were so hopeful, and the poem was so impressive I had no choice but to read it over and over again. The illustrations by Loren Long also looked like they were perfect for the book. I can’t wait to read Amanda Gorman’s other books!
I recommend this book to readers four and older.
Four out of four roses!
