Posted by To celebrate my 5-year anniversary as a blogger and reaching 1K Instagram followers, I’m giving away a book written by someone I admire. When I was in first grade, I learned about Ruby Bridges, who was just a first-grader herself when she enrolled as the only Black student in an all-white school in New Orleans. She helped integrate the school amid angry mobs who did not welcome her.
When I was in fifth grade, I got to meet her! I will never forget that moment. I wrote about it on my blog. And I also included the moment as one of my five favorites over the past five years in my reflection post on Saturday.
On Friday, April 14, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET, I will select one of my IG followers to win a copy of her newest book, Ruby Bridges: This Is Your Time. This little book is a letter to people who are continuing the fight for equality that she symbolizes. I enjoyed the photos of her then and now.
