Review: Bookstock 2018 is Worth a Visit

Posted by

Yesterday I got a bunch of books at Laurel Park Place in Livonia, Michigan.

There is a book fair there called Bookstock so my family and I went so I could look for books to review. There were so many books, magazines and comic books. The books were in boxes mostly, but some were on tables. There were so many people, which makes sense, because I read that it is the largest used book fair in Michigan. They had more than 200,000 items!

Some of the books I got were Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, Island of the Blue Dolphins and Inside Out & Back Again. I also got another Beverly Cleary book, a book about Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese and The Incredible Journey, a book my Mom said she really liked when she was about my age.

I liked that there was so many choices to choose from. I spent about 10 minutes trying to find my first book! I also liked that it was affordable, so that meant I could get more books. I got 15! (Usually at book stores I can only get one or two books per visit.) We paid between $1 and $3 per book.

Bookstock is still going on. There are special days all week. For example, today there is a $50 gift card giveaway and the chance to win a $500 gift card!!! There also is a Teacher Appreciation Day on Tuesday and a Children’s Day on Saturday, with activities. The last day of the sale, on April 29, everything will be half price.

Bookstock is raising money for backpacks for homeless kids, literacy tutoring for kids and adults, and materials for literacy volunteers and students.

Are you interested? Good! You should go.
