Note from Elena Reads: I’m so excited that Myla J., age 10, is my first guest blogger. Here is her review:
I read a book called The Magnificent Mya Tibbs: Spirit Week Showdown, by Crystal Allen. I met the author when she came to my school after inviting us to participate in her writing contest. (One of my short stories appears on her website.)
The Magnificent Mya Tibbs: Spirit Week Showdown is about a girl named Mya who loves Spirit Week. Mya and her best friend Naomi hope to get paired together to win two VIP fall festival tickets for being the best Spirit Week partners. But when Mya gets assigned with the biggest bully in school, Connie Tate, she and Naomi become enemies because now they have to compete to see who will win the tickets.
I liked that Mya never gave up trying to win the contest, even though she was faced with some challenges like being friends with the biggest bully in school and her best friend becoming her enemy.
I would recommend this book to people who like Spirit Week, stories about friendship or are middle grade students.
Myla J. rates this book 3 out of 4 roses.
Hello Myla! Did this book teach you any lessons about true friendship?

Thanks for reading my review. I learned that you can become friends with someone you didn’t plan to be friends with.
