Note from Elena Reads: Today’s guest review is from Frances M. She is 12 and in sixth grade. She liked the movie, Ella Enchanted, and thought she might enjoy the book, too. Read on to see her thoughts on this popular book, which won the Newbery Honor.
The book I read is called Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine.
Ella Enchanted is about a girl who, at birth, was cursed with the gift of obedience. Any order given to Ella, no matter how big or small, Ella must obey. From jumping off a cliff, to doing jumping jacks for a day and a half, Ella is in danger all the time, and she is determined to put an end to it.
This story follows Ella as she goes on a quest to end her curse once and for all. Will Ella break her curse, and live happily ever after, or will things take an unexpected turn, leaving Ella with her curse forever? It is an exciting, magical adventure full of humor and bravery, which I’m sure you’ll love.
I enjoyed this book because it was funny, and I learned that with perseverance, anything you set your mind to is achievable.
I would recommend this book for fantasy-lovers, ages 9-15.
I really like this book! I would give it 4 out of 4 roses.
