My Interview With Desiree Cooper

Picture book author Desiree Cooper “has always wanted to be a writer – except for the couple years I wanted to be an astronaut”. Now, she is an award-winning author who has been nominated for the Pulitzer-Prize in Journalism when she was a reporter at the Detroit Free Press! I was excited to talk to her about her new book. We discussed the culturally Black tradition that inspired her children’s book Nothing Special, her childhood, and the unique illustrations by Bec Sloane. Watch the full interview below!
